You Don’t Need a Big Budget to Make a Big Impression
Think marketing has to break the bank? Think again. This week’s Marketing Minute breaks down five simple, effective marketing tactics you can do for a combined total of just $125.
1. Canva Postcard (~$30)
Design a professional-looking postcard online using Canva, then work with Rick Hall to get it printed and mailed. It’s a tangible way to get your brand into someone’s hands and it doesn’t require a graphic design degree.
2. Targeted Facebook or Instagram Ad (~$50)
A little goes a long way on social media. With $50 and some thoughtful targeting, you can put your business in front of exactly the audience you want to reach.
3. LinkedIn Direct Outreach (Free)
LinkedIn is packed with potential connections and you don’t need to spend a dime to use it strategically. Optimize your profile and reach out directly to prospects. (Fair warning: the more complete your profile, the more you may notice your own inbox filling up from others doing the same thing!)
4. Email Newsletter Feature (~$25)
Use a service like Mailchimp to send a regular newsletter to your contacts. Consider adding a “Compliance Corner” or other value-added section that keeps readers coming back. At around $25/month, it’s one of the most cost-effective tools in your kit.
5. Coffee Meeting & Referral Plan (~$20)
Shantae’s personal favorite and the one that’s actually put money in his pocket. He calls it “Coffee on ‘Tae.” The idea is simple: buy coffee for strategic referral partners who already understand your industry and your value. For Shantae, that means connecting with insurance agents. Twenty dollars, a good conversation, and a natural referral relationship. That’s marketing at its best.
Total: ~$125. Results: priceless.
Sometimes the most effective marketing isn’t about big budgets, it’s about showing up consistently, being resourceful, and building real relationships.
