Five simple steps to keep your listing consistent, current and easy to find

This week’s Marketing Minute came from Lisa Kretzer of Employ-Ease, who walked us through how to get the most out of our NRG directory listings, along with any other directories we belong to, like chambers of commerce or similar groups.

1. Keep your company name consistent.

Your business name should appear exactly the same in the NRG directory, on your website, on Google, etc., basically any online listing where your business is listed. Pick one version (for example, “Employ-Ease Inc.” rather than switching between that and “Employ-Ease, Inc.”) and use it everywhere.

2. Add a photo.

It doesn’t have to be a formal headshot, but it should fit your industry and personality, whether that’s you in front of your truck or, like Paul, behind a camera.

3. Refresh your description.

Your listing should sound like you. Lisa suggests asking AI to act as your copywriter: request SEO- and AEO-rich wording, share your website address, paste in your current listing and ask for a first-person description under 100 words. Lisa will email the prompt to everyone.

4. Send Sara all your links.

Include LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Yelp, and any industry-specific sites where people find you, like Paul‘s IMDB page or Dale‘s HomeAdvisor profile.

5. Add a video.

Paul is happy to record a short one for you. Introduce yourself, explain what you do, and mention that you’re part of NRG.

Every update makes the NRG site more relevant, which helps the whole group and being active and connected in many places strengthens your own online presence too.
