How shifting your marketing focus with the seasons keeps your pipeline full year-round
As we head into winter, Brandon Niedzwiecki encouraged NRG members to rethink how they market their services—not by doing more, but by doing it more strategically. Rather than promoting everything a business offers all the time, he suggested narrowing focus to what’s seasonally relevant. For his own work, that means shifting away from outdoor projects to indoor ones as the weather turns colder.
He offered several examples of what this can look like in practice. Tom, our home inspector, doesn’t need to wait for a sale to be useful; inspecting a home for ice dam damage before winter hits can open the door to new work. Dale runs a water heater special every March when business typically slows down, turning a quiet month into an opportunity. Regina can find a natural, seasonal reason to check in with clients who may have difficulty around the holidays.
Brandon’s broader point: marketing doesn’t have to mean a hard sell. Sometimes it’s simply finding a reason to reach out and ask how someone is doing. He closed with a line from a fortune cookie that had been sitting on his desk: “Kindness is the currency of the soul.” Approaching marketing from a place of genuine care, he noted, is what most of us got into business for in the first place, and it’s also just good marketing.
